Jesenko Gavric
Jesenko Gavric was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As both his parents were artists – his mother a painter and his father a sculptor – Jesenko was always surrounded by art and his love of the arts was cultivated from an early age.

When Jesenko enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, his interest in people and their behaviour shaped and influenced his art. For Jesenko, the portrait is the strongest indicator of people’s emotional state. Jesenko’s works, including his self-portraits, are characterised by their often discomforting psychological penetration and examination of his models.

Jesenko has been inspired by artists like Rembrandt, Vincent Van Gogh and Edvard Munch.
